Animal Metaphors Foresight stickers

Futurists often use animal metaphors to describe the nature of an event/issue.

The metaphors vary, but we prefer the following:

- Grey Rhino (known knowns)
- Black Jellyfish (known unknowns)
- Black Elephant (unknown knowns)
- Black Swan (unknowns unknowns)

The aim of the animal metaphors is to make us think about the difference between what we are aware of and what we understand. They enable practitioners to discuss issues and events quickly and playfully.

Stick these stickers on your laptop, drink bottle or use them in an exercise to encourage future thinking.
